Migration from VMware to WebDisk Cloud Computing
Migration from VMware to WebDisk Cloud Computing
VMware, once a pioneer in server and operating system virtualization, is experiencing reputational losses today following its acquisition by Brocade. Much has already been written about this, but let us mention only the abrupt termination of partner contracts, centralization of support, and of course, sharp price increases. This has resulted in a trend where smaller companies, unable to afford extended support, are beginning to seek alternatives to VMware vSphere.
WebDisk Cloud Computing proposes two paths. The first is, of course, migration of all services (VMs, Kubernetes clusters, NSX networks) to our public cloud. We offer support in such migration, and our cloud costs are a fraction of what you would pay major providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP. If you calculate correctly, you may find that you pay more for electricity in your DC than maintaining your infrastructure in our WebDisk cloud will cost. Our cloud is built on Apache CloudStack, which serves as the cloud orchestrator. The client interface is StackConsole software. This is a Cloud Management Portal solution, very user-friendly and intuitive, providing the ability to fully independently manage resources and settle accounts with the WebDisk Cloud Computing operator.
The second path is assistance for your organization in migration to Apache CloudStack. This is completely free software, which is also the foundation of our public cloud. CloudStack (unlike, for example, OpenStack) is modeled on vSphere, is a monolithic solution, very easy to implement and maintain. It is also very intuitive for VMware Administrators. Apache CloudStack also offers something that OpenStack does not. This is the ability to run a simplified zone dedicated to on-premises installation. Without network virtualization, with native support for internal LANs. The transition process and knowledge acquisition is very simple and fast for anyone who has previously worked with VMware. Few people realize that VMware vSAN is a Ceph fork. Even vSAN Fault Domains are nothing more than Ceph Stretch Clusters. WebDisk is entirely based on Ceph, both as a block solution for VMs and as Object Storage S3 for our customers. We have extensive experience launching storage clusters for virtualization purposes.
It is also worth mentioning that Apache CloudStack is a universal orchestrator. It can manage many types of hypervisors. These can be KVM or VMware ESXi (among others), which means you can deploy CloudStack in parallel with VMware vSphere and see for yourself whether this technology is best for you.
We encourage you to contact us. A brief conversation, solution presentation, and access to a Demo environment can dispel many doubts.
