Migration from Vmware to WebDisk Cloud Computing

Migrating from Vmware to WebDisk Cloud Computing

The former pioneer of virtualization of VMware servers and operating systems, today experiences image losses after the acquisition by Brocade. A lot has already been written about this, but let’s just mention the sudden termination of contracts with partners, the centralization of support, and, of course, the surge in prices. This has resulted in a trend where smaller companies that cannot afford to extend support are starting to look for an alternative to Vmware vSphere.

WebDisk Cloud Computing offers two paths. The first is, of course, the migration of all services (VMs, Kubernetes clusters, NSX networks) to our public cloud. We offer support in such migration, and the costs of our cloud are a fraction of what you would pay with well-known providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP. If you do the math correctly, you may end up paying more for electricity in your DC than it will cost to maintain your infrastructure in our WebDisk cloud. Our cloud is built on the basis of Apache CloudStack, it acts as a cloud orchestrator. The front for the customer is the StackConsole software. It is a Cloud Management Portal solution, very friendly and intuitive, giving the possibility of independent resource management and settlement with the WebDisk Cloud Computing operator.

The second path is to help your organization migrate to Apache CloudStack. It is completely free software, which is also the basis of our public cloud. CloudStack (as opposed to, for example, Openstack) is modeled on vSphere, it is a monolithic solution, very easy to implement and maintain. At the same time, it is very intuitive for Vmware Administrators. Apache CloudStack also gives you something that Openstack doesn’t. It is the possibility of launching a simplified zone, dedicated to onpremis installations. No network virtualization, with native support for internal LANs. The process of transition and learning is very simple and quick for anyone who has previously dealt with Vmware. Not many realize that Vmware vSAN is a fork of Ceph. Even vSAN Fault Domains is nothing more than Ceph Stretch Clusters. WebDisk is entirely based on Ceph, as a block solution for VMs and as Object Storage S3 for our customers. We have extensive experience in running storage clusters for virtualization.

It is also worth mentioning that Apache CloudStack is a universal orchestrator. Can manage many types of hypervisors. It can be KVM or Vmware ESXi (and others), which means you can deploy CloudStack in parallel with Vmware vSphere and see if this technology is best for you.

We encourage you to contact us. A short conversation, presentation of the solution and access to the Demo environment can dispel many doubts.
