But what is Object Storage, really?

Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service) is a service that offers mass storage with enormous scalability. It provides safety, ease of use and almost unlimited space. Object Storage uses two terms, the first is bucket in which data is stored as objects. In addition, it allows you to set a number of policies on objects with which you can control how and with whom you share data from the bucket.

Object storage is currently the most popular standard in the world when it comes to the way files are stored and shared on the Internet. It is extremely easy to implement, it is supported by a number of programming libraries, there are many clients available (cmd, app and web) with which you can manage your files. It has gained immense popularity in storing large files, as a target for backups, to store large files such as photos. It also copes well with small files, supporting many types of disk devices (hdd, ssd, nvme) allows you to optimally store various files in different areas to be able to distribute them effectively, i.e. as quickly as possible, to the client. The ease of implementation means that in a huge number of solutions it plays the role of Shared Storage, sharing disk space where, for example, on the one hand, cameras load photos directly into the bucket via FTP front, and applications standing in Kubernetes connect to the same bucket and process photos. Each customer has the option to enable encryption of bucket contents. On special request, we can turn on an antivirus that will regularly scan the contents of the bucket.
