Nowadays, we all produce a huge amount of data, and by this, I mean tangible data such as files (photos, documents, scans, videos, music archives, and so on). At some stage, every person and every company start to think about the security of their data. It suddenly turns out that half of our lives are photos and memories associated with them. In a company, it suddenly turns out that the number of invoices, documents and databases is so large and of such great value that their loss can have very serious consequences.
The market has been offering various solutions for a long time, including NAS devices. These are local disk servers used to store data. But what if we don’t know anything about computer science? What if the device breaks down? What if we don’t have or don’t want to spend money on NAS (these devices are sometimes very expensive). We can then use network drives based on public clouds. Such solutions are offered by large providers such as Microsoft and its OneDrive and Google and its GDrive. The only problem is that these drives have a small capacity, plus a large supplier never takes responsibility for anything. In case of problems, there is often no one to turn to.
Such a solution is the NextCloud service offered by WebDisk. NextCloud is nothing more than a solution comparable to a local NAS server, running on a network. Why comparable? It is a service that can be extended with additional functionalities, such as a music player, a photo viewer, and so on. NextCloud is free software, developed by enthusiasts, extremely popular around the world. NextCloud is accessible through a standard interface displayed in a web browser. For your convenience, there is also an application that is locally installed on Microsoft Windows, Apple MacOS and Linux operating systems. This application creates a locally accessible directory that is synchronized with your disk in the network. In addition, there is a phone app that can do exactly the same with photos from your phone. You finish taking photos on your phone, sit down at your laptop and immediately all the photos are at hand, without having to download them from the web.
But if you already have a NAS device on which you store data and you are worried that losing it will be a big blow to you or your company. You can use our NextCloud service to make regular copies of your device to our cloud. We issue all disk services using the S3 protocol, at the moment every NAS device allows you to make backups to the public cloud via the S3 protocol. By purchasing the NextCloud service, you can access your backup directly from your browser.
Let’s go further, you have a video recorder and several cameras, are you worried that if you break in and lose the recorder, all the recordings will be lost? Virtually every recorder has the ability to send copies of recordings, photos and analytics to the outside. Our NextCloud service based on the S3 protocol is also available via FTP. We can accept files from any device that does not support S3 and supports older protocols such as FTP or SFTP.
Are you looking for a network drive that offers unlimited storage? Simply expand your existing NextCloud service with additional terabytes made available via S3, which can be connected to NextCloud as so-called external storage. Do you store files on AWS S3 and are looking for a cheaper provider? No problem, you can connect an external AWS S3 storage to our NextCloud service and copy files by “dragging” them from one directory to another.
The S3-based network drive service introduced by WebDisk guarantees convenience, flexibility, unlimited capacity and complete security.
